Re: “Forrest Claypool messed with the wrong alderman

I know that Ben Joravsky is capable of solid, compelling journalism. This piece of she said/he said is not one of his or The Reader's better moments. Is there a story here? Perhaps. Was the story told in this piece? Perhaps not.

Re: “What’s changed—and what hasn’t—since the last teachers’ strike

I'm going to cry foul on the Loyola Basketball comment. The Ramblers have a newly renovated stadium, located on their lakefront campus and don't appear to have their hand out to the city for any other development projects. Wouldn't you be better off citing the huge giveaway recently approved for the lakefront in Uptown?

Re: “Big Marsh could be a terrific bike park, but it’s not yet safe to pedal there

John - A great article. Look forward to following this issue and seeing all the positive change that Big Marsh brings to Chicago's East Side.

Re: “Good Prose From the Past

J.R. -

Thank you for elegantly summing the ingredients of Cliff Doerksen, a great man, an inspiring personality and an incredibly talented writer.

I had the opportunity to work with Cliff at both Time Out Chicago and The Reader. While his professional accomplishments were many, my greatest Cliff memories are the conversations we had about the margins of culture, history, Chicago lore and other inspiring, often forgotten moments and movements that influenced the world we live in today.

Cliff was curious, brilliant and had the greatest respect for his readers, co-workers and fellow travelers. I feel truly fortunate to have had Cliff in my life. His death is a personal loss to me and the thousands of individuals he touched through his writing.

This is a very sad day.
