Re: “Knew

I have had the pleasure and privilege of enjoying Chef Omar Rodriguez’s creations at both (K)new Restaurant and at its predecessor, Think Café. My husband and I are always thrilled with our meal, every time trying something different and every time enjoying every last bite. I know lots of people like me – who get cozy at a restaurant and always order the same dish every time, just because we know we like it and it’s “safe.” At (K)new, though, I am never worried about being disappointed and look forward to whatever new and delicious dish is being served each visit.
We were lucky enough to go this past Saturday and enjoy the two specials – I had as my entrée the ribeye with lentils, green beans, and a pomegranate reduction, while my husband had the Cajun pasta with chicken andouille sausage. I would have been offended at my husband’s complete disinterest in making conversation with me if only I could spare a moment to talk to him while savoring every bite of my own fabulous meal! (in between stealing bites of his) The meat was so tender it was like slicing butter, cooked to perfection, with a few sprinkled pomegranate seeds making every bite a surprise of wonderful, perfectly blended flavors. (Note: my husband is one of those people who hates fruit mixed in with other food, and even he agreed it was one of the best beef dishes he has ever tasted)
My husband’s dish was also excellent (at least, what I managed to sneak off of his plate…) The Cajun pasta was not overly spicy for someone like me, as I am not always a big fan of spicy food, but was rather exceptionally flavorful, the heat only coming after I got to enjoy the taste of the andouille sausage and even a bite of shrimp mixed in.
The only rival to Chef Omar’s delicious cooking is the wonderful reception we get from the staff whenever we dine there – we are always served promptly, efficiently, and with a smile. If Chef Omar is the spirit of (K)new, his wife Ryvkah is by far the heart, striving to ensure all of her guests leave happy and well-satisfied. She is a true “hostess” in every sense of the word and one of the reasons we look forward to dining there whenever we go!
