Leslie Howard directed himself in his last screen performance in an English World War II biopic (1942) about R.J. Mitchell, the man who developed the Spitfire fighter plane. Note: the 90-minute American release version of this film, known abroad as First of the Few, is 27 minutes shorter than the original. With David Niven, Rosamund John, and Roland Culver.
