It took 30 years for black and poor people in the CHA (and other projects) to realize they are dispensable?

You described the CHA as "their homes." "They" don't own anything. They didn't buy anything. Home owners are people who buy property and land and pay property taxes, and surprise, surprise, even that won't stop the government from taking it. Has anybody heard of eminent domain?

The best way for CHA people to keep what they had was to form a co-op. Pay property taxes, clean the area, make it crime free. It's a little too late now.
