During the month of December, ART ON ARMITAGE Gallery presents the tapestry style paintings of former Chicago artist Jennie Booth. The exhibition includes three vibrant mixed-media paintings on tapestry style canvas, each representing a different translation of the English word Speechless. (San Paroles - French, Nilishangaa - Swahili and Unsãglich - German) Booth, who is currently based in NYC and Los Angeles states, "In a world of borders, there is one language which easily crosses oceans and translates into legislation and tradition everywhere. That is the language of oppression against women. Made speechless by this overwhelming injustice, the women in my paintings imagine a borderless world where every viewer is invited to become a witness and ally. The paintings are available to the public for viewing 24 hours a day throughout the month of December.
