To the editors:

I am writing to point out an error in Matt Murphy's reply to Peter Margasak's article on the ILF [Letters, August 16]. Mr. Murphy claimed there is "only one major radio station [that] pays any attention to local bands and that for only a half hour a week." In fact, there are several fine local music shows: WHPK's Pure Hype, Fridays from 9 to 10:30 PM; WZRD's Live Local Music, from 10 to 11:30 PM Thursdays; and WNUR's Airplay, every Saturday afternoon from 3 until 7. Each of these shows features live in-studio performances and interviews. Also, both WNUR and WHPK have released compilation CDs of local bands. Finally, it should be noted that WNUR, at 7200 watts, probably has more power than whatever "major" station to which Mr. Murphy was referring.
