Anthology, Drama
Chicago writer-director Ron Lazzeretti collected two previously released shorts and added two new ones to create this impressive anthology. The middle entries—"Wedding Night," about a couple trying to spice up their sex life with role playing, and "Flowers," about a woman charmed away from her husband by a strange man with a bouquet—are bounded by their aspirations to quirky romantic comedy. But Lazzeretti really has something with "Last Day," in which a workplace going-away party uncovers all manner of hidden resentments, and "Move," in which a family tries to wrench itself from its old neighborhood and relocate to a new one. Both stories nicely render the mingled pain and elation of people shedding their old lives for new ones, and the mingled sorrow and anger of the people they're leaving behind.
