[snip] Give us your thin and healthy--we'll fix 'em. According to a Northwestern University study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, obesity among immigrants who've been in the U.S. for under a year is 8 percent. Among immigrants here for more than 15 years it's 19 percent. Among native-born Americans, 22 percent.

[snip] Mathematically challenged. According to Chicago Reporter editor and publisher Alysia Tate, reporter Sarah Karp got several different sets of numbers from officials on how many teens participated in the city's program to help poor teens learn skills and get jobs. "None of the figures matched those included in the state reports passed on to the federal government. . . . The agencies that work directly with the young people had different totals altogether. And, when Karp asked why, no one seemed to know."
