Re: “Loop Link bus corridor isn't yielding the travel-time improvements hoped for

LOL. What, you're saying that smart urban planning involves actual PLANS?

"I understand there is no cost effective way to address every possible outcome, but these seem like simple and obvious measures that should have been done BEFORE proceeding."

Re: “This November suburban voters have the chance to dump Trump's enablers

It is hard to comprehend how public employees with conservative attitudes straight out of a 50s sitcom balance that with the sweet, sweet leftist-commie benefits and perks they enjoy.

Cognitive dissonance would be the fancy pants term, but alcoholism seems to also be part of the formula.

Re: “Reader announces Anne Elizabeth Moore as editor in chief, Karen Hawkins as digital managing editor

Always a weird day when I find myself in agreement in IAC, but when he's got a point, he's got a point.

I love a good muckraking article as much as the next guy, but the Reader's bread and butter used to be those longer investigative articles where both sides to a story were interviewed and researched. It doesn't mean the Reader didn't take sides, but they did practice more thorough journalism.

Then came the dark days known as the Liz Armstrong Era...

Re: “FOIA’d e-mails reveal an ongoing citywide epidemic of Divvy thefts

I'm glad to hear that there seems to be a relatively easy fix, albeit one that was in place originally and then removed. Nevertheless, this bears calling out:

"The messages indicate that hundreds of cycles have gone missinga problem unique among docked bike-share systems in major U.S. citiesdue to the missing security component. "

The missing component isn't misplacing bicycles. The bicycles are still locked in the docks, just not as effectively as they could be.

They do teach that stealing is wrong in the public schools, right? So just like bike advocates don't like the phrase "car accident," let's not fall into the same passive-aggressive conundrum here. The problem is that thieves, aka people with low moral character, are stealing them.

Re: “Once a street gang, then a political collective, the Young Lords celebrate 50 years with a symposium at DePaul

It's unfortunate that all of the working class people in Lincoln Park allowed themselves to be divided and conquered, and then pushed out. It was really class warfare masquerading as urban renewal, as there were all kinds of working class people there in the 60s and 70s.

The Kartemquin classic "Now We Live on Clifton" is is an excellent tribute: https://www.fandor.com/films/now_we_live_o…

Re: “A primal scream against traffic violence at a City Hall bike meeting

...except you can do all of those things and still be murdered in a second by a drunk or distracted or aggressive driver. Seen those red light traffic violation stats? Those aren't bicyclists blowing all of those lights.

I love how people think motorists are somehow this amazing species of perfectly law abiding hominids.

Re: “The end of Rahm Emanuel’s rule means that the center may no longer hold in Chicago

Somebody is projecting HARD right here.

"Were you dressed up like a giant vagina, shouting at the sky drinking a $7 Starbucks when you wrote this unobjective, virtue signaling piece of tripe?"
