Shock Treatment

As a movie, this sort-of sequel to The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1981) ain't much—but then neither was the original, and we all know how much difference that made. The audience reactions have been choreographed into the film this time (via an audience within the movie), and medical drag has been substituted for the sexual kind. Otherwise it's much the same, with soundalike songs, a claustrophobic setting, and social satire still rooted in the Eisenhower years. Cliff De Young and Jessica Harper are Brad and Janet Majors, trapped in a TV studio representation of suburbia. With Patricia Quinn, Richard O'Brien, Charles Gray, Nell Campbell, Ruby Wax, and Barry Humphries; Jim Sharman directed. PG, 84 min.
