Re: “Is Journatic's cheap labor saving journalism or just a lot of money?

I'm a reporter for a small town newspaper. We have subscribers and they keep me paying my bills. I call them job creators. It's not just about The Chicago Tribute and other large dailies. People need to support weekly papers as they learn how to transition into the data-greedy 21st Century.

I started in a new region in April, and I can tell you that Timpone is wrong. Being in a community, building trustworthy and trusting sources and connection, is what good reporting is all about. That, and hours of online and telephone research to find our if what one source tells you has any basis in reality.

Stop thinking the cow you're getting for 35-cents has any relationship to the milk that sustains you. Subscribe. And tell editors and publishers you want real, human reporters on the beat in your community.
