Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Christmas Goose

When: Fridays-Sundays. Continues through Dec. 30 2012
Price: $15-$20
This jovial but rather slapdash holiday show presents Arthur Conan Doyle's 1892 short story "The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle" as a live radio drama, with silly sound effects and fake commercials. Drawn mainly from Doyle's original text, about a stolen diamond found in the gullet of someone's Christmas dinner, the narration is ably delivered by Joshua Volker as Holmes's sidekick, Dr. Watson. Adapters John Weagly and Michael Menendian (who also directs) have inserted some jokes of their own, but their reliance on visual gags subverts the radio-show conceit and undercuts the production as a whole. —Albert Williams
