Centered around four friends who get into sex-related jobs to make ends meet, Cor Res Theatre's one-act (penned by Noah Applebaum and Jessica Kent) provides a relatable glimpse into an industry often shrouded in mystery and misconceptions. The jobs run the gamut from dungeon dominatrix to escort to working on a porn set. The character that resonates most is shy, glasses-wearing Lily (played by Julie Pearson), who chooses the perceived safety of the Internet to fulfill often geeky and comical fantasies for money. When she finds that anonymity compromised, the results are surprisingly chilling. While peripheral characters question the friends’ career choices, their level of enjoyment and personal growth make you question what fulfilling work truly means and why an industry that has the capacity to empower has become so marginalized. —Marissa Oberlander
