Paul Brittain created Ed Vincent as a recurring character for iO's Late Night Late Show. In this multimedia solo performance, Brittain fleshes out the middle-aged sex educator/enthusiast, whose backstory is that he's a former gay-bathhouse repairman and failed improviser. He's not such a good teacher either: Vincent admits he has no degree or training, "enjoys" talking about bestiality, and thinks the female condom is the "greatest invention since the intercom." His program includes homemade sex toys, hand gestures with names like Two Dicks Passing in the Night, and "straight talk" like "Is it OK to fuck a Jet Ski? I don’t know. Was it your Jet Ski?" The script could be tighter (though some of its redundancies are obviously intentional) and the pace picked up a bit, but overall the amateurish production values fit the conceit. And when he's not on script, he's light on his feet: during the Q and A portion of the show I saw, when an audience member asked him where the clit was, he responded, "If the vagina was a door, it’d be like the mistletoe." --Ryan Hubbard
