In the opening credits of this 1982 Romanian satire, the film's production crew is listed after the actors' names as members of the cast, which signals how the lives of the movie's makers will get surrealistically entangled with those of their fictional subjects. In the first segment the filmmakers invade a location on New Year's Eve and compound an unsuspecting civilian's difficulties in making an important phone call. The weak middle section shows the crew dining in a restaurant whose owner is depressed by shortages and marital woes, but the last story packs a punch, as a big scene in the film-within-the-film commences shooting, only to be upstaged by quarreling extras. Alexandru Tatos directed. In Romanian with subtitles. 98 min.
