To the editors:

As a Fifty Plus black female, I take issue with the several blatant erroneous comments in your March 6, 1992, article on Carol Moseley Braun. She stated that in 1960 she lived a few blocks from "the all-white Hirsch High School." I attended Hirsch High School from September 1954 to my graduation in June 1957 and I can attest to the fact that Hirsch was not an all-white school at any time in the 1960s.

In addition, she was born in an area at 41st and Indiana among very poor blacks on violent streets and her move to the Oakwood area "a formidable slum" when she was 16 was not the first time she had lived among poor blacks.

I am very disappointed in the comments Carol made in this article, and her selected recall has caused me to reconsider my support of her candidacy.
