Re: “Chicago Contemporary Circus Festival

Yay for circus, this article, and the festival! I am crazy excited about going to see these shows. I've seen videos of some of the acts that are coming to town, and they are amazing!

Hip, hip, huzzah for circus!

Re: “Losing Vivian Maier

This is an amazing story. The young lawyer is something out of "God Bless you Mr. Rosewater."

But, Maloof should have hired a lawyer to make sure that that they were actually purchasing the rights to the work, instead of just hoping that no one else had a right to the work.

Re: “In employing pianists, Mariano's picks up where Nordstrom left off

It is pretty nice. The Mariano's on Chicago Ave. seems about the same as the Dominick's before it, but the piano is a nice upgrade. I dig it.

Re: “County clerk David Orr's reform talk annoys another mayor

Death is a star- I don't think that's entirely fair. One of the reasons why Mare'Daley was elected over and over again is that the white liberal/African-American coalition that Washington put together was broken by the events in 1989.

Sawyer got installed as the African-American machine candidate, Daley crushed him in '89, and the pieces have never been put back together. Maybe Washington was a once in a lifetime candidate, but it is possible that someone like Tim Evans could have put it back together is he'd been appointed Mayor in 1987.

Maybe. But the end of that political era cemented Daley as Mayor. It still reverberates to this day, with the rise of Rahm.

Re: “One last look at the old Seminary Co-op Bookstore

The bastards. The rat bastards, who wrecked it to replace it with a Friedman center.

Rat bastards.

Re: “Mayor Rahm and the minimum wage

That quote by Alderman Pewar is pretty awesome. Since everyone hates a proposal, maybe it's the right thing?

It's close to being one of the silliest things an Alderbody's ever said.

Re: “Llewyn Davis was a journeyman—and every industry has them

This was a wonderful little review, and summed why I liked this movie so much.

Re: “The transcendent horror of Burning Bluebeard

So very, very very wonderful. One of the best pieces of theater I've ever seen.
