A Bridgeport institution.

Our Review

This Bridgeport institution right across the street from the 11th Ward office has a reputation for being a Sox bar. And so it is, though the south-side crowd, much of it white-haired, seems more interested in jawing than watching the game. The menu is old-school meat-and-potatoes, the food pretty much unspeakable, but anthropologically this place is of interest, the aging epicenter of "We don't want nobody no one sent."

Bar Details

This Bridgeport institution, said to be oldest tavern in Chicago, has a reputation for being a Sox bar. And so it is, though the south-side crowd, much of it white-haired, seems more interested in jawing among themselves than watching the game. Drink-wise, don't look for much beyond Jim Beam and Lite, but there's probably a bottle of creme de menthe back there somewhere. —Kate Schmidt
