Sagrada: The Mystery of Creation

Documentary maker Stefan Haupt checks in on the construction of the Sagrada Família basilica in Barcelona, which was designed by Antonio Gaudi in the late 1880s but still remains decades away from completion. A wide range of people, from architects to construction workers, comment on the grandly ambitious project, each considering it through the lens of his or her own work; these various interpretations, rather than contradicting each other, combine in a symphony of ideas about religion, art, and humanity's place in the universe. (Haupt seems to have modeled the movie's conglomerated form after that of the building.) The photography is impressive as well, Haupt's camera moving gracefully through the interior of the basilica and ascending to its spectacular heights. In English and subtitled French and Spanish.
