Gossip Wolf hears that Marc Ruvolo—former front man of No Empathy and the guy behind Chicago pop-punk label Johann's Face—has sold his Logan Square books-and-vinyl emporium, Bucket O' Blood, to Grant McKee of Vigilante Press (who says he has no plans to change the store). Ruvolo is taking a yearlong tour of the U.S. and Europe, on which he'll perform acoustic versions of songs from his old bands and a set as Aspic Tines, his homage to operatically inclined new-wave singer Klaus Nomi. On Friday local label Seven Dead Arson drops the Aspic Tines CD-EP Enchante Madame A.I., and Johann's Face is putting out a Bandcamp release of new Ruvolo material called The Minimum Plus.

Loud Loop Press founder and Rodeo guitarist Richard Giraldi has a newish surf-garage outfit where he plays bass. He started Bleach Party a year ago with guitarist-vocalist Meghan MacDuff (Velocicopter) and guitarist Bart Pappas (ex-Bigcolour), and in late 2012 they recorded five songs with drummer Susan Volbrecht, who's since been replaced by Rabble Rabble's Kaylee Preston. Bleach Party has two tunes on Soundcloud, and Gossip Wolf is partial to the gloomier "Shade of Blue." The band plays its first show Fri 8/23; details are on Facebook at bit.ly/bleachp.

Singer-songwriter Owen Ashworth, aka Advance Base, will appear on the new Sun Kil Moon album! Main man Mark Kozelek sent him rough cuts of some songs, and Ashworth recorded Rhodes parts for several. "I'm not even sure how much he's gonna use," he says. They met when Ashworth was in college and worked at a Bay Area movie theater near Kozelek's place, and after Ashworth started Casiotone for the Painfully Alone they became friends at European festivals. Sun Kil Moon's album won't be out till next year, but Kozelek's Caldo Verde label will reissue Advance Base's The World Is in a Bad Fix Everywhere on CD in October.
