This family portrait by Tyler Dean takes about 45 minutes to reach an inciting action and then sticks to familiar territory. A soldier son gets the boot from active duty, a daughter fights with her mother over pursuing a college degree, an unemployed dad fills his time by obsessing over the family. Clunky dialogue and transitions--we spend an inordinate amount of time watching a couch get rolled into position in the dark--add to the tedium of Currently Untitled Theatre's inaugural production. By the (literal) final snapshot, I found myself asking the wrong questions, like: Why do the mother and daughter look nearly the same age? And why does only one character’s narrative get completely fleshed out? --Dan Jakes
