To the editors:

As the agent for Tony Kushner, author of Angels in America, I would like to advise Lewis Lazare that, contrary to his article, no theater in Chicago has "an inside track" to producing the play in Chicago [The Culture Club, November 13]. It amazes me that although I was said to have "contacted Steppenwolf and indicated that the first Chicago production is theirs if they are interested," Mr. Lazare did not bother to call me to corroborate this. Mr. Lazare should be reminded of the first rule of good reporting--check the facts.

Joyce P. Ketay

New York

Lewis Lazare replies:

I know that people in Ms. Ketay's position cannot afford to be completely candid in the midst of such negotiations. However, my source is well informed and I stand by my story.
