Re: “Mell challenger in 33rd Ward blasts TIF program 'patronage'

Agreed that this article is incomplete without a discussion of Annisa Wanat. She's got more budget experience and public service experience than the other candidates combined and stands as a clear independent 3rd option. I think anyone who saw the 33rd Ward forum would agree... see http://youtu.be/lz1hhBIjy0o.

Re: “A reminder to Mayor Rahm's 2015 opponents: It's a runoff, dummies!

Well-put, Anonymous… “even more important… is this continued perception that he is this invincible powerhouse & nobody else even dares to stand a chance.” This is, sadly, the most compelling aspect of his campaign strategy.

The numbers in the “anyone but Rahm” camp are massive, and significant if they come out to vote. And Amara for one is a legitimately thoughtful, bright, and inspiring candidate who annuls the need for a “lesser of two evils” approach to voting.

Dissing Amara for her age or lack of experience is naïve when you consider her experience as a grassroots organizer and former Daley policy analyst, ability to speak five languages, law degree and PhD in Educational Policy, etc. and a big heart. How much experience does Rahm have with grassroots organizing (necessary for repairing the disconnect between those making policy and those affected by policy) and educational policy (unless you perceive, as no rational person does, that education is just another “investment” sector)? He doesn’t passively absorb these experiences simply by being 54 years old and being an investment banker.

Who is this Amara? We'll soon find out.
