Re: “The Muppets

Not only a lazy review, but a baffling one. Did Jason Segal ignore your request for a high-five at some party in 2002? I can't understand such resentment for a perfectly balanced movie. Smart and funny movies that respect the characters as much as their audience are in short supply these days. This is a movie that deserves support from (slightly) empowered critics, because it's way too smart to be a hit. I would go on, but I'll just say that you've always been a disgrace to film criticism and the city of Chicago. Love, Roy Ivy

Re: “Tomato catch-up

J.R., the movie isn't pitched at kids. That's your repeated defense, and it won't stick. It's gonna tank because it's way too smart. Dreadful film professors will "goop" over this like they do for Buster Keaton and Mel Brooks. Please stop meekly and falsely defending your bum review. You wrote a bum review, it happens. Just remember that sometimes you overpraise, sometimes it's fun to stab a sacred cow, and sometimes you're that guy that doesn't get the joke.
