Albert King almost single-handedly invented a style of electric blues guitar that generations of lesser guitarists (Stevie Ray Vaughn?) copped almost note for note. Clapton, Page, and to a lesser extent Hendrix and Bloomfield tread heavily in his large footsteps. Word is that he was not always the nicest man to be around, but I still find him one of the most inspiring minimalists of the blues. He could say more with one bend than most guitarists say in an entire evening of pseudo virtuosic guitar athleticism.
