The journalistic equivalent of a power lunch, this 2003 video documentary by Elizabeth Holder and Xan Parker intertwines brisk and uncritical narratives of four dynamic Wall Street women—NYSE floor broker Louise Jones, foreign currencies trader Kimberly Euston, equities research analyst Carol Warner Wilke, and Merrill Lynch intern Umber Ahmad—and for the most part finds them as brittle, competitive, and adrenaline driven as their male counterparts. Detours into their personal lives are revealing (Jones was abandoned as a child and grew up in public housing; Ahmad was raised by devout Pakistani Muslims), but their candor ends at the office door, which effectively blocks Holder and Parker from the very element the women have in common. 88 min.
