I admire your courage in this week's column [Hot Type, February 18] in pointing out flaws in the Shanley case and how the press missed the bigger issue. Even hinting that accused sex offenders have rights, much less being innocent, is virtually taboo these days, especially if homosexuality is involved. Your piece was a well-needed corrective.
