When: Sat., Oct. 11, 7 p.m. 2008
Louisiana trombonist Jeff Albert - also playing Thursday and Friday - will participate in two of tonight’s four sets. First he’ll lead the opening band, a quintet with James Falzone on clarinet, Dan Godston on trumpet, Matthew Golombisky on bass, and percussionist Ian Ash on a MIDI controller built to work like a vibraphone (they’ll play a piece called “Whose Line Is It?,” which Albert describes as “a melodic exploration . . . for improvising composers”). Later in the evening he’ll duet with saxophonist Dave Rempis. This show is part of the Chicago Calling Arts Festival.
