Re: “Deeper into Deep Throat

Nixon's visit to China 40 years ago was a great achievement and mainly beneficial. A re-examination of what actually happened at Watergate is needed. The latest doubts about ‘All the President’s Men’ are not the only problems with the accepted account of Nixon and Watergate. The idea that there was ‘wrong doing’ took root and became the accepted truth; only the foolish dared to question it. If an alternative explanation can be made about what was on the tapes, then the jury is still out although the sentence was passed and the ‘prisoner’ lynched. From a reading of his writings before Watergate, one can conclude that Nixon is first and foremost an American patriot. He would upset any vested interest group to defend the interest of the USA.
Nixon was a favorite son of Yorba Linda and the Thirty-seventh President of the US.
He was re-elected with 60.7 per cent of the vote beating Senator McGovern by 18 million votes. He was the first president to have won all the southern states at a single election. Yet he had to resign two years later.
Was Watergate any worse or out of character with the actions of Presidents before and after?
To know what actually happened forty years ago, answers have to be provided to:
• Why were the culprits arrested at the THIRD attempt to break into Watergate?
• Why did the $100 dollar bills have consecutive serial numbers?
• Why were Howard Hunt’s details in the address books of TWO of the four arrested Cubans?
• There was a coup attempt in China to prevent the rapprochement. Could the same have happened in the US?
• What vital ‘information’ was passed by the grand jury member to the reporter?
• What has Richard Dawkin’s memes got to do with Watergate?
• Would Nixon order the Watergate raid when he was 26 points ahead of McGovern?
• Was Watergate a set-up or a cock-up?
