When I sought to buy Marilyn Monroe stamps recently, the clerk at my local post office substation said they didn't have them.

"I've been trying to get them for some time," I responded. "When do you expect to have some?"

"I really can't say," she replied. "They were due five days ago. They might be lost in the mail."
