It's a neat idea: play recordings of old radio dramas as actors perform the action onstage. Just hearing an episode apiece of The Adventures of Philip Marlowe, Lucille Ball's My Favorite Husband, and the classic, somber Gunsmoke is worth the (free) price of admission. But the casting feels haphazard at times, the stagings under three different directors are mostly uninventive (a fistfight that unfolds in flashbulb pops being one of the few interesting flourishes), and the idea begins to wear out an hour too early. On the plus side, Martin Green gives a wry, smoldering performance as Marlowe, and James Ogden's minimalist set hints at the lacunae-filling properties of radio. --Keith Griffith
