Our Review

The thing about a lot of vegetarians is that while we might be opposed to actually eating meat, most of us don't have any issue with liking its taste and texture. Our real problem with meat analogues is that finding one that can hold its own as a sandwich filling or pizza topping is tough, and finding one that can get by fine with nothing more than a tortilla and a dash of raw onions and cilantro can seem an impossible dream. Through either science or magic, Quesadilla's managed to do it, offering a veritable menagerie's worth of faux animals (soy versions of chicken, beef, pork, and mutton) available in their tacos, tortas, huaraches, and, yes, quesadillas (even ones made with vegan cheese) that are even better than my memories of the real thing. There are also more obviously vegetal fillings like mushrooms, peppers, pumpkin flowers, and inky, earthy huitlacoche, as well as a juice bar offering shakes containing a number of things you may not be used to seeing juiced, like parsley and broccoli. Meals are ridiculously cheap, and come with a free side order of chips, salsa, and bohemian people watching.
