Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

Disney and megaproducer Jerry Bruckheimer, whose partnership has yielded the National Treasure and Pirates of the Caribbean franchises, churn out another disposable family entertainment with this screen adaptation of a sword-and-sorcery video game. When the Persian monarch is assassinated with a poisoned robe, the finger of guilt falls on his adopted son (Jake Gyllenhaal) and a maharajah's captured daughter (Gemma Arterton); much swashbuckling adventure ensues, the big gimmick of which is a magical dagger that can turn back time. Mike Newell (Mona Lisa Smile) directed; with Ben Kingsley and Alfred Molina.
