Re: “Malachi Ritscher's apparent suicide

Today would have been your 58th birthday, and at last there is some hope for change. Perhaps this year we will have an American Spring, something I know you wanted to happen by your final action. People are finally getting it about the horrible physical and mental toll of war. The Occupy movement is just beginning, and people seem to be wiser about the rich taking what they have worked for. It is an election year with the most fucked up Republican line-up imaginable. It's hard to believe they can actually walk and lie at the same time. We keep hoping for change, but they fight it every step of the way - so it will be slow coming. Your music is being saved and catalogued, that would make you happy. We wish you were here to share your thoughts, ideas, and self.
Rest well Malachi.

Re: “Malachi Ritscher's apparent suicide

We have just passed the 10th anniversary of the bombing of the World Trade Center. The government wants us to live in fear and Al Quaida wants us to leave the Middle-East. Gasoline is over $4.00 a gallon and nobody seems to be really doing anything to increase understanding between different peoples. Bin Laden is dead (most likely) but the government has plenty of other boogey-men of which to be frightened. The ultra-rich are consolidating the world's wealth, and the Republicorp Party wishes to remove entitlements, voting rights, health care and anything else that would stand in the way of total power. What a fucking mess. Isn't it interesting how history repeats itself? And we are blessed with the best government that global corporations can buy. I'm glad you are missing it, 'cause it would certainly keep you up at night.

Today the war in Afganistan became the longest war in US history, with the war in Iraq not far behind. The economy is in shambles, and BP with the aid of Halliburton is poisoning our oceans as well as our skies. New Orleans and the Louisiana delta is ground zero; the terror of the Bush Administration continues unabated. I'm glad you don't have to watch this mess.

Sadly we have to celebrate your 56th birthday without you, Malachi. The wars drag on, the collateral damage is paid in civilian lives and destroyed towns and villages. Obama has not been the president he promised to be. I wish you had stayed around, but you would be disappointed. Rest In Peace Brother, you'd get none of it here.
