Lots of men cry lots of tears in this supremely self-indulgent, supremely moving documentary about making a documentary. Richard Roe, the father of the filmmaker, Chris, foots the bill for a six-month trip around the world that the two take together. As they decide to revisit people and places from a similar excursion they took in the 70s with Chris's brothers and mother (she and Richard have since divorced), the two are candid about what they want from each other. Chris wants to make a movie and needs funding; Richard wants a companion for a last hurrah and his favorite son has already declined. When they aren't arguing, bonding, seeking thrills, or some combination of the three, Richard and Chris interview other fathers and sons, uncovering both complexity and striking simplicity in each relationship, including their own. 92 min.
