If you're going to depict a man forcing fellatio on a comatose accident victim, it's best to have a compelling reason why. Playwright Mark Ravenhill doesn't, beyond conveying the desperation and bitterness of his characters—a point beaten to death early on in this Vitalist Theatre production. Severely injured from a night dive into an empty pool, a successful artist gets turned into raw material by her envious peers as cameras roll and morbid fascination gives way to despicable exploitation. Any interesting ideas get buried under pretentious verse, questionable dialects, and long, dull stretches of contact improvisation. Liz Carlin Metz's production inadvertently reproduces the sort of masturbatory art Ravenhill seeks to criticize. —Dan Jakes
