The historic religious tradition of the pilgrimage in Buddhism, Christianity, and Islam is explored through art and material culture. The exhibition will present a context for the ideas most often connected with the individual’s quest for spiritual healing, atonement, enlightenment, and transformation. Through an examination of past and present religious cultural artifacts and fine art, visitors will understand the profound significance of the pilgrim’s journey. Similarities in the spiritual quest in the three religions visually reinforce LUMA’s mission to explore the spiritual through art of all faiths and cultures.
