Imagine a boy who truly never grew up. Would he be the winsome, charming Peter Pan of J.M. Barrie's writing? Or the fat, cruel, selfish man-baby we meet in this final installment of Jeremy Menekseoglu's revisionist trilogy? Cursed by his inability to age, Peter sets out from the ruins of an abandoned Neverland to retrieve Wendy and rebuild the world of his nostalgic imagining. Menekseoglu, who also directs an impeccable cast, plays Peter with convincing detestability. But his real brilliance lies in having created a character whose flaws are simple and universal. Foreverland presents a dark portrait of childhood follies and a convincing reminder not to squander the opportunity to grow out of them. —Keith Griffith
