Mary Fons is quick to point out the parallels between her and the legendary Liza. Their uncanny resemblance and similar life experiences, Fons says, led her to fantasize about being her idol's lost child. Fons explores that long-held idée fixe in this show, which is performed in quirky, meta-theatrical Neo-Futurist style. It's difficult to get a read on what Fons wants from her audience; I'm not sure she knows herself. Talk of committing suicide over bad reviews is more disturbing than funny, and constant self-commentary distracts from substance. Fons is at her best during irony-free song-and-dance numbers and straight narratives, when she loosens up and pulls her tongue out of her cheek. --Dan Jakes
