The fourth annual Peace on Earth Film Festival runs Friday through Sunday, February 25 through 27, with free DVD projection of dramatic films and documentary videos about “peace, nonviolence, social justice, and an eco-balanced world.” Curt Fissel’s Delicious Peace Grows in a Ugandan Coffee Bean documents a coffee-farming cooperative formed by Jews, Christians, and Muslims during the oppressive regime of Idi Amin (Fri 2/25). Kevin Breslin’s Living for 32 profiles Colin Goddard, who became a gun-control advocate after surviving the Virginia Tech massacre (Fri 2/25). A.J. Carter’s Australian drama Ronan’s Escape centers on a teenager driven to the brink of suicide by school bullies (Sat 2/26). Tony Heriza and Cindy Burstein’s Concrete, Steel and Paint chronicles a mural project created by crime victims and state prisoners in Pennsylvania (Sun 2/27). And Alyona Semenova and Aleksandr Smirnov’s Russian drama Ryabinoviy Vals tells the story of a girl sent into the fields of northern Russia to clear away bombs left behind during World War II (Sun 2/27).
