Re: “Francesca's North

This northern sister to Mia Francesca upholds the consistent commitment to quality ingredients, plentiful portions and a sophisticated atmosphere. We found some unique pasta dishes to choose from, as well as a good variety of fresh fish offerings. My husband and I are vegetarians who eat fish and so we have become good judges of restaurant fish. Francesca's exceeded our expectations for freshness and portion size.

The Francesca's standards are there and the Northbrook location delivered the same quality as their other spots, namely the to-die-for calamari and the pasta verdure (simple fettucini with loads of delicious veggies in a light sauce--yum!). Our absolute favorite is the appetizer staggione pizza decorated with lean prosciutto; at your table the waiter cracks a fresh egg over the top of the steaming hot pizza and blends it in. Result is a rich, creamy delight of a pizza with a crispy, chewy crust. Perfection!!! We like this spot for dining with friends because its fun and lively.

Noise levels might make it challenging for couples looking to woo or folks with little kids. We have also discovered that the take-out menu is a fabulous bargain.
