Yesterday for brunch, my girlfriend and I chose to go to Thyme Café for their buffet. We were more than disappointed. The food was all very mediocre as was the presentation (except for the fruit platter, which looked like it was ordered in because it looked so out of place). Most of the chafers contained foods that looked picked over and were not even hot, not to mention the tiny bagel fragments which were stale. The brunch was pricey at $18.50 especially for the quality. I was disappointed that coffee and orange juice (from the bottle) each $3 were not included. The real kicker however was the mandatory 18% gratuity for buffet, which I’ve never seen even at four-star hotels. We saw our waiter twice and the second time was when he brought the bill with incorrect charges and little apology. As not to say nothing good about our experience we did enjoy the live Brazilian music and the restaurant’s décor. There are many more brunch options for a more reasonable price in the neighborhood.
