Wide-screen images of Australia's majestic Hawkesbury River augment this pleasant 2004 drama about a handsome young city slicker (Alex O'Lachlan) who hires on with a rural oyster farmer (David Field) and his weathered old dad (Jim Norton). The interloper takes advantage of the situation to stage a rather far-fetched heist of $100,000 from the village fish market, but through a twist of fate the booty disappears, and before he can track it down he's seduced by both the idyllic river life and a local babe (Diana Glenn). Like Bill Forsyth's Local Hero, this debut feature by writer-director Anna Reeves charts an urbanite's spiritual awakening among a community of colorful salt-of-the-earth types, though the crime plot becomes an unwelcome distraction. With Jack Thompson. 93 min.
