Outrageous! | Chicago Reader

“Cute” would have been a more accurate title—there's nothing too outrageous about this story of a schizophrenic woman (Hollis McLaren) rooming with a female impersonator (Craig Russell) who yearns to turn professional. It's sort of a Cuckoo's Nest in drag, a small sermonette on how you have to be crazy to survive in This Crazy World. Pleasant but nothing special, although Russell's impersonations—of Mae West, Judy Garland, Peggy Lee, and so on—are downright uncanny. Richard Benner directed this 1977 Canadian production.
