Dancers, performance artists, theater troupes, and the Environmental Encroachment circus band will participate in Out of Site, a free series of "encounters" planned for public spaces in the Wicker Park-Bucktown nexus. Curated by the Defibrillator Gallery, the series unfolds over the course of a dozen Friday evenings and kicks off July 29 with Dome of Doom, a sort of dance cage match in which competitors have 60 seconds to show their stuff to a panel of judges (Polish Triangle, 1200 N. Milwaukee). Dancers Ginger Krebs and Andrew Braddock pair up August 5 (Wicker Park, 1425 N. Damen). On August 12 it's Meg Duguid, a performance artist who maintains a 25-square-inch gallery space inside her purse (Polish Triangle). Dancer/choreographer Rachel Bunting and her company, the Humans, invade the Polish Triangle August 19, then Defibrillator founder Joseph Ravens (subject of a 2010 Reader story titled "This Guy's Penis Is a Work of Art") appears August 26 in a performance that starts at the Triangle but "runs down" the Division, Damen, and Milwaukee strips. Come September 2, the New Colony--whose current production is 5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche--stages a multidisciplinary performance at an as-yet undetermined site. Montreal-based artist Martine Viale turns herself into a human sculptural element September 9, also at a site to be determined. Chicago performance group 3 Card Molly can be found outside the Western, Damen, and Division Blue Line train stops September 16. "Dedicated to an exploration and celebration of the customary, the everyday, and the usual," multimedia duo Industry of the Ordinary offers a roaming performance September 23, and artists representing the Pretty Dirty performance series trek down Milwaukee Avenue from the Damen train stop to the Polish Triangle October 7. The peripatetic Walkabout Theater--currently performing Within--finishes up October 14 with a performance that starts at 5 AM on Milwaukee Avenue. --Sallyann Price and Tony Adler
