There's really nothing special about this Old World Theatre Company revival of Thornton Wilder's oft-produced, charming if mildly sentimental Pulitzer Prize-winning play. Most of the performances aren't bad, but they're also not particularly intense, inspired, or even interesting. Of the actors, only Erin Elizabeth Yucus as the sweet ingenue Emily Webb fully inhabits her role, and even she doesn't reveal her full power until the end of the play, when she delivers a soulful and moving monologue about the ephemerality of life. It doesn't help that the actors perform in a high-ceilinged synagogue banquet room that flattens out the actors' lines and defuses what little drama this ensemble is able to muster. —Jack Helbig
