A man longing to be left alone gets a steady stream of visitors in Simon Gray's mildly comic, sometimes dark play. This is British fare so obsessed with language that a husband and wife arguing about an extramarital affair begin parsing each other's accusations for their hidden meanings. Yet there's enough witty banter during the story's almost absurd chain of events to make for an entertaining 100 minutes. Michael Rice's staging is aimless at times, but he coaxes energetic, layered performances from the cast. Levi Petree, Alex Gillmor, James Allen, and Lauren Ludwig (who proudly bares her perky assets) amuse as foils to Peter Moore's smug, antisocial Simon, who eventually evolves. --Jenn Goddu a Through 3/24: Thu-Sat 8 PM, Steep Theatre, 3902 N.
