Orgazmo | Chicago Reader

A door-to-door proselytizer from Utah gets sidetracked in Hollywood after he inadvertently impresses a porn director with his martial-arts skills. Offered $20,000 to take over the role of Orgazmo, a studly superhero who immobilizes adversaries by shooting them with a distracting ray, he can't refuse—his fiancee wants an expensive wedding. But determined to keep to the letter if not the spirit of his faith's code for sexual behavior, he refuses to penetrate any of his costars. A consistently light yet derisive tone, modest production values, and masterful comic timing allow writer-director-star Trey Parker to expose cultural hypocrisies with precision. His performance—in both the movie and the movie within the movie—is dramatic and poker-faced, seamless and hilarious; Dian Bachar plays Orgazmo's dildo-wielding sidekick, a scientist who says he does porn for the sex, with even greater conviction (1998). Parker and producer Matt Stone are the creators of South Park.
