Re: “This Guy's Penis Is a Work of Art

For starters; this artist needs to realize who is his audience! Personally if he is doing a show whereas it is stated "No nudity", he needs to take heath to that rule. Consisting this event was in the business area(downtown Chicago to be exact) the artist should realize there are those who are underage along with those who do not wish to view such material.

As a fine artist, I always have to know who my audience is and will they be comfortable viewing the human body unclothed! I draw and paint the human body(both cloth and unclothed). I have to take into consideration as to: who my audience is, where will it be displayed and what response to expect from my work. Even on my web site, I post the statement, "Warning: this site contains images not suitable for anyone under 18 or those who choose not to view such material". It's a way of forewarning the audience as to what is be expected from my site. This being the year 2010, one would think it would be more at ease seeing the human body unclothed; unfortunately there are a bunch of individuals who shield themselves from this type of visual work. Now had this been Europe, it wouldn't happen. The U.S. seems to be for violence, but against nudity; whereas Europe is just the opposite.

Overall, There is nothing wrong with observing the human body as a work of art. It's God's greatest creation. However when one wishes to utilize nudity in their work; they need to inform the audience of the contents of their work so it will lessen controversary later down the road.
