A squabbling career couple (Daniel Travis and Blanchard Ryan) arrive at an exotic island resort and sign on for a chartered diving excursion, but their vacation becomes a nightmare when they surface and find their boat has vanished. Shot on a microbudget with a four-man crew, this superlative chiller by husband-and-wife team Chris Kentis (writer-director) and Laura Lau (producer) is deceptively simple and highly effective: the ocean becomes an implacable enemy as the current sweeps the divers into ever more dangerous waters, deepening their predicament and preying on our primal fears. R, 79 min. Century 12 and CineArts 6, River East 21, Webster Place.
